This site is dedicated to John D. Muller, Sr and his wife Louise Friederika Charlotta Jagusch, his direct descendants and the extended branches of the family through marriage. John and Louise’s children were: Helen Muller, married first Herman Baumgartel and second August Schroeder; Herman Muller, married Caroline____; Louisa Muller, married Michael Stritzky; Elizabeth Muller, married Henry Blank; Augusta Muller, married Rudolph Heig; John Muller, married Elizabeth Wylie; and Mary Anna Muller, married John Knupple.

John D. Muller. came from near Leipzig, Germany to New York City with his wife Louise Jagusch in 1853, and settled in the Lower East Side of Manhattan, a conclave of German immigrants. His children also lived here, but most moved to Brooklyn or the Bronx before the end of the century.

Curiosity is a wonderful mental occupation, and the more we found on the extended families the harder we looked for more information. We hope that those who arrive here will benefit from our research and perhaps have information to add to this site.

The Name Index links individuals to their Family Pages and to family descendant charts. The Family Pages include vital statistics, Sources and Biographies, with links to scanned documents and the family descendant chart. In some cases the biographical information is passed down to us from previous generations. However, the biographies for extended family members is gleaned from census records and other documents that are easily available.

Our German Ancestors relates information on the ancestors of John D. Muller and the area in Saxony where they lived.
          --------------------------------------------------
The New York City Metropolitan area saw considerable changes in the nineteenth Century. One can not truly understand one’s ancestors without a knowledge of the conditions and events they experienced during their lifetimes. The pages listed under Events and History were written to give you an overview of this era and is not intended to be an in depth study.
